The Redhead Piano Bar

4.2

About this business

Renditions of Cat Stevens, the Rolling Stones, Billy Joel and Beatles fill the air as you set foot into this place. Known for music and spirits, Redhead is the place to reminisce over a bottle of Chandon Brut. Liquors, cocktails and classic wines feature in the drinks menu. The cigar rack is also promising. The piano area is busy with artistes and sing-along buddies requesting their favorite number. The attire is strictly business casual.

Best Late Nights – I love this place!!!! Great Drinks, Great Bartenders, Great Hangovers! Sure, there is an older crowd early in the evening, but by 11 it's a bar that anyone who has even the minutest ability to have a good time will love. Service was impeccable, despite the craziness. And the bartenders know how to put on a show! Two guys and one girl in that small space, singing, laughing, and having fun, and never taking a break..Amazing! If you can't see the piano, watch the bar! There's a show no matter where you're at.... read more

Best Bartenders...Ever – I must admit...I bartend at the Redhead.. I've only worked there for about a year, but, after 15 years in the service industry, it has proven to be the most respectable, fair, and fun of all my endeavors. I have a degree (and an 'almost' master's), and no one understands why I don't use it...All I can say is 'How many people go to work everyday doing something they truly enjoy?' I love my job....I get to entertain people, and be entertained at the same time...in a bar that is true Chicago, through an... read more

BE READY TO PAY !!! – The service was poor and drinks were small. The manager seated us in the back of the bar, when I asked to move closer to the front he told me that it would be $ 50.00 to get a table towards the front of the bar. I said "there is no one here and I have to pay $ 50.00 to be closer "he said yes and gave me a nasty look. Listen to this ,ONE hour later he came back and wanted more money for the next hour. I asked him if I was in a stip club. This place should wake up and realize they are not the only game in ... read more

CHEESIEST BAR IN CHICAGO – Terrible place--very tourist-trap-y. Went because I heard it was a "hip" version of a piano bar but nothing could be further from the truth--un-fun, assembly line place--forced and plastic. Trying to be hip and exclusive, rather than congenial, but so not either--just depressing. "Bridge and tunnel/middle america" crowd and unfriendly, unsmiling, ape-like staff. DO NOT GO!!

Different – The bar was quite dark (so dark in fact I could not read the martini list). The music was the same as any other piano bar but I have to admit this is the best one that I have been to. (it kind of feels like you are living the song 'Piano Man')

Beneath its sassy sign, River North's tunester paradise is old-school (in good way). – The Scene Warm burgundy walls, amber lighting and dressed-up patrons, who stop in before or after martini-supplemented dinners, create a speakeasy feel at this comfortable basement bar. Twenty-somethings brush elbows with seniors, as songbirds belt out tried-and-true hits to piano accompaniment. The Draw Originally known for its roster of standards, the piano bar's expanded sets now comprise almost everything popular, including Neil Diamon... read more

Great, talented musicians; Perfect cocktails; attractive crowd – I first discovered the Redhead years ago and have to say that I've made it my regular spot. I don't know of anyother club in Chicago that has great live music, great drinks and a fun crowd. It's always a party. People are friendly at the Redhead...both the staff and the customers. The crowd seems to vary in age depending on the time of night and it's always a great place to people watch. Frequently, famous musicians seem to drop in and jam. I think this place i... read more

Relaxing, hip place to spend an evening – The Redhead is one of the few places in Chicago where you can feel like you're out among the "who's who" but still feel like you're in a relaxing atmosphere. The bartender's always put on a great show, and the entertainers really get the crowd involved. This is a great place to take someone from out of town if you want to keep an eye out for celebrities, or a nice place for locals who want a change of pace from the usual bar and dance club. It has the feel of New York piano bar, but ... read more
