Affordable Sushi now! $3 Cali Roll – Pagoda has been a family owned restaurant running for 60 years. They are doing a great job adapting to it's location in the Avenues by adding Sushi to the menu. They have not changed how they prepare their classic Chinese/Japanese menu--huge portions and tradional recipes (chicken tats is my favorite). Now they have over 25 rolls of sushi that are more affordable than the sushi I have seen in the city, and tastes better! I think all the rolls are under $15 bucks and most were less than 10... read more

A Must When I Visit – I grew up in Salt Lake and moved to California in '85. Pagoda is the one restaurant that I have to eat at when I visit Utah. I love the egg foo yung, spareribs, shrimp, and fried rice. The staff is always friendly and service is great. Food portions are large and the leftovers are great to eat the next day.

It is not a bad place if you want home-made-like food – We drove by this restaurant at evening and were very impressed by its artistic landscape, absolutely stunning! We decided to get out of the car to study this piece of art and somehow got the idea that we should try its food! As soon as we entered, we noticed a well-known local tycoon dinning with his wife quietly at the corner ! The decor and lighting are nice, but still this is not a place for a romantic date! Carpet is too dark and seems old! I was frowned when I star... read more

Beautiful on the outside, nasty on the inside! – We have always wanted to go to this restaurant. It is so beautiful on the outside with its lovely Japanese garden. The moment we walked into the restaurant we knew something was up. No offense to the older generation, but it was filled with helmet hair. No one even remotely close to our age, and our kids were the only children there. The service, if you could call it that, was so slow. The food was bad. I ordered the tempura shrimp and they brought out cocktail sauce for it. W... read more

Don't go – My wife and I went on a sunday night it was empty and yet the service was extremely slow and unfriendly. Our waiter didn't touch our table for fifteen minutes and my drink was never refilled the whole time we were there. Our food was terrible (resembled closely a lump of slime atop some vegies) I didn't eat more than a few bites. The resturant was clean and had nice decore but i could stay at home and get that. The reason I go out to eat is to get good food and service Pagota offered neither.

You need to try the Fried Shrimp!!!!! – This is a Great Japanese, American cuisine restaurant. I have grown up with the delicious fried shrimp!!! Inwhich I highly suggest you try!!!! They are the big, jumbo shrimp deep fried and served with the best red cocktail sauce ever!!!!!!. Also the Egg Foo Yong is simply scrumptious too (especially the shrimp egg foo yong!!!) The Chicken Tatzu Agee is so tasty!!! The sauce for the chicken is a sweet but sour soy sauce. It is very good. They have delicious wonton also. The spare ribs..... read more

A+++++ all the way! BEST Oriental RESTAURANT in Utah! Great food! Very Clean! Great Employees and Service! – This restaurant is tops! I have been eating here for over 20 years! Ever since it opened! At least once a week! I have always had great meals and great service. Pagoda is probably the cleanest restaurant in Utah. I have been in their kitchen and watched how the food was prepared - FRESH, not Sysco prepared frozen heat and serve stuff! Very clean. I went there one time to pick up take out and forgot my purse. The bill ... read more

NOT Traditional Chinese/Japanese & Expensive – Lured by the charming exterior and always crowded parking lot, my wife and I had been wanting to try Pagoda for years. First of all, do not expect "traditional" Chinese/Japanese (ie. Charlie Chow's, Koyoto). The food is EXTREMELY bland and prepared in a very heavy fashion (think corn starch). We had the Family Dinner, because we wanted to sample a wide spectrum of the menu. I'm not saying the food is instrinsicly bad; my complaint is that it is so entirely unmermorable. If you w... read more

A Long Tradition of Late Night Spareribs and Udon noodles – Pagoda has been a family tradition for years. We've always received the best of service and really good food. The Family Dinner is great for large group, though I recommend ordering off the menu. Their spareribs are utterly craveable, and they have some great udon noodles (both the egg and flour kinds). The food is a mix of American, Chinese and Japanese, and while it may not be the best gourmet food around it's always good and filling. The restaurant is open really... read more
