The Best Sushi in Salt Lake – If you love (or even like) sushi, there is no better sushi in Salt Lake. A lot of the local specialty rolls were invented by Steve and Marlene who have recently moved to the Pagoda from Ginza. The Mars Roll, Firebreathing Dragon, and Baja Sunset...absolutely delicious. The Spicy Tuna Roll is out of this world.
Fabulous and Local – Like the other locals who have posted reviews, my husbands family has been going to the Pagoda for 50+ years!! They have added a FANTASTIC Sushi Bar that is a very welcome change. It's great to have the option to enjoy their original menu items (the new owners are using the old recipes that were passed down to them) and to be able to order their delicious sushi rolls. We've been to Takashi, Tsunami, Happy Sumo, Naked Fish, Mizumis and many other sushi joints and Pagoda has done a fabulous job with their ... read more
What happened – I have to say my family and I are absolutely devasted. From my grandparents to my parents to my siblings to my children - we have been enjoying this establishment for over 50 years. I understand the need to change to survive and don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Sushi fan. But don't minimize the value of consistent, quality food that has become part of this community. Great service and the sincere feeling of being welcomed not only into someone's business by their history and their family. I wish you well, becau... read more
Boy has it changed. – Pagoda is a tradition for my family. We've gone there for over 50 years! It was just heaven until recently when they changed all the food. Now it's mediocre to bad. It's really a shame.
Horrible Food, ok sushi for the price – Absolutely horrible Chinese food, we ate about 1/4 of everything. The egg foo yung (supposedly their specialty) was dry and bland. Chow mein was unbearable to eat, it was like ramen noodles with celery thrown on top. Beef sukiyaki was ok, but a little too sweet. The tempura was good and that was the only thing we managed to finish. Sushi is decent for the price. Might come back for cheap sushi but will never again order from the menu.
not sure what to think – came here twice, and the first time we left after 40 minutes of waiting and getting only water and beer. came back to give it another try, because the owner saw what happened and was so sweet. the sushi was good, and my boyfriends food was good, however i didnt like mine. i asked the waiter to explain what i was ordering and he got it wrong. will come back and give it one more try
What Happened? – Wow, it's hard to understand it but you know those shrimp that are WORLD FAMOUS? They stopped making them and started serving a chinese style get it anywhere shrimp. Sweet and Sour pork that came with the family dinners GONE>?? Changed to another style meat but the sauce is almost the same. The char shu is NOT OFFERED? The old family must be rolling in their graves! For years we have been regular customers, I realize that the sushi modernized the place but why switch out some of your most famous items? I I g... read more
My FAVORTE restaurant!! – Pagoda is my absolute favorite restaurant! It's simple, it's delicious, the staff is friendly and down to earth. The food is all fresh and prepared perfectly. By far my favorite tempura and egg foo young (and I don't like egg foo young anywhere). With the new sushi menu that is extremely well priced, they have topped all others. I have been eating sushi my entire life and I swear, this is GREAT sushi and they use great fish. I have suggested several friends to try Pagoda and now they can't get enoug... read more
Bland, greasy, overpriced food. – I just ate at the Pagoda for the first time last night. My husband and I live in the Avenues and notice the building often. Against the advice of many family and friends, we decided we ought to give it a try. This was the biggest dining mistake of our lives. We ordered the family combination meal ($15/per person) so that we could try a variety of things. We also ordered a dish of teriyaki chicken. The chow mein was a glob of thick slop consisting mainly of celery and a bland white corn starc... read more
