Phillip Shayne was probably the worst host or GM I've ever met. I've eaten here many times but today this host rudely said a member of our party interrupted another guest . This guest never complained to us or mentioned this. However despite never seeing this person we offended, we waited 30 mins for an order that never came. Then had to close out a tab on a phantom bill that had no food. We decided it wasn't worth waiting for the argument to correct this. Great dinner spot for hanging out with friends. Great food and drink pairing. My wife, Lestine and I had a great time.
I must confess, it is the BEST CRAB CAKE I have ever had. I was recently downtown San Diego and went to the Oceanaire for Happy Hour. The bartenders are funny and very friendly. I asked for the crab cake. They instructed me that it was not on happy hour :( and suggested several other happy hour items but explained that the crab cake was worth every penny. Great Service Giving it 5 stars for everything, cocktails, entree, appetizers, dessert, service and location. Told Manager that the service was decent and he actually got emotional. This pride in service is very hard to find.
We sat at the oyster bar thinking it would be quicker service...but we were very wrong! The food is great...when we were able to order it! We sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before they took our drink order...and another 10 minutes to bring us the beer...which was only about 5 feet away since we were at the bar! Bottom line the bar service was absolutely horrible!!! The food was delicious but a bit on the pricy side...$16.95 for ONE crab cake! Overall...good food but do not sit at the bar!!
Impossible not to like this food – I have never tasted better seafood anywhere, and we have been all over the world. Hands down, the best ever. We don't come here often because it's just too expensive for us, but when we want to treat ourselves, we make a trip over and go for it! San Diego is really coming along with great places to eat.
Best Crab Cake in the world! – Oh no, I can't believe it...why did they have to take something so great and ruin it... Well folks, the home of the best crab cake has been sold. That's right, Landry's has purchased the Oceanaire chain - and food quality, portion size and staff happiness has dramatically decreased.
