My wife and I lived at The National Old City from September 2022 to March 2025, and our experience was absolutely wonderful. From day one, Amanda and Mike went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They greeted us with warm smiles and friendly hellos every time we entered the building, and it was clear they genuinely cared about their residents. Ive lived in literal hovels in the Deep South Bible Belt and never lived in a worse place than here at The National in Old City. This was the most expensive place I’ve ever lived- you’re paying for location alone and it isn’t worth it. The staff is undertrained and every appliance and private amenity was nonfunctional. The apartment they had me move into was NOT the layout i signed up for and they were *apparently* not available to meet me after move in despite setting the time themself. This building is chintzy for luxury apartments and Old City doesn't really feel safe anymore since around when Kensington was cleared out. A lot of homeless and many of them out late at night yelling or having episodes. One regular in the neighborhood freaks out in the proximity of little dogs. Just the other night (writing this in Nov 2025) I saw a guy violently smashing windows yelling at someone at 3rd and arch.
