I lived at the National for 2 years (2023-2025). I really enjoyed my time there and it is true that the management and maintenance team are top notch. In particular, Amanda and Mike really care about the residents and are very attentive to any issues or concerns. That's really what sets this place apart. I did also enjoy the roof deck, the great bridge views, the location in Old City and easy access to the Delaware River Trail and nearby piers.
My wife and I lived at The National Old City from September 2022 to March 2025, and our experience was absolutely wonderful. From day one, Amanda and Mike went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They greeted us with warm smiles and friendly hellos every time we entered the building, and it was clear they genuinely cared about their residents. The architecture is amazing! I’m glad they saved and renovated this historic Philadelphia icon.
Ive lived in literal hovels in the Deep South Bible Belt and never lived in a worse place than here at The National in Old City. This was the most expensive place I’ve ever lived- you’re paying for location alone and it isn’t worth it. The staff is undertrained and every appliance and private amenity was nonfunctional. The apartment they had me move into was NOT the layout i signed up for and they were *apparently* not available to meet me after move in despite setting the time themself.
