The last great small music store in SF – West Portal is a throwback, a trip to a small town in the middle of the big city. How appropriate that the last great small music store should be located in West Portal. The L train will get you there, and you won't regret it. Vintage vinyl, cds, and the home to the local band too. This is the coolest place in San Francisco, hands down. Friendly staff, cool records, sweet vibe. Keep The Music Store alive!

Not Just a Fantastic Used Music Store – I love the music store, too, clear color. The cheap bastard shows on saturdays, the fun knowledgable employees, the west portal regulars, the clearance section, the awesome decorations... And they're always playing good music on the speakers, and they've even tested a record I bought to make sure it wasn't scratched! Yeah, it's a neat store, and they advertise good upcoming shows. Oh, and they make notebooks out of record covers, for five easy dollars!

I love this store! It's my home away form home. You can find some real gems in this place...rare vinyl, hard to find CDs, and out of print, classic movies. They were also able to fix up my old record player - new needle, cartridge and belt! They also offer guitar lessons and host live music. Have I mentioned, I love this store?!
