The Mash Tun was opened in 2005 by avid home brewer and neighborhood resident Christian Bravard. While living in the changing and ever growing Alberta Arts District, he saw an opportunity to combine his love of brewing with his many years experience in the restaurant industry to provide a friendly, comfortable place for locals to gather and enjoy great food and beer. Great service and wonderful beer. Classic neighborhood bar feel. – I love this place, it's such the neighborhood bar. Perfect beer, great food, and Anne and Kim are the cutest bartenders on Alberta! They always make you feel at home. Free pool and free jukebox are hard to beat. Definitely put it on your list of places to visit if you like great beer.
my favorite portland pub... – I love this tiny brewpub so much that my wife and I drive from far southeast portland to visit it. And we visit often. The small staff is friendly and attentive to the point that they know our 2-year-old daughter's name and her favorite menu items. Best Alberta Bar – With the explosion of bars on Alberta Street, the Mash Tun is the clear winner. It is one of the best bars to hang out in the neighborhood. You can't go wrong with free Jukebox, peanut night, and $2 Tuesdays. It's not trying to be anything but what it is - a comfortable and rockin brewpub with great service, food, and beer.
