Do not be misled – While I cannot complain about the beautiful atmosphere and trendy decor, I must tell you, IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Bouncers are rude and discriminatory, table service is horrible, bartenders barely know the recipes to mix drinks, and the prices are outrageous. You are better off at any other bar in the city (and trust me, I have been to plenty). The Maritime hotel is completely misleading. Don?t let it fool you?.
Worst Service – I went to the Maritime to enjoy the nice weather and get some drinks with a few of my friends. We sat there from 6-8pm and literally saw the waitress twice. It was impossible to get drinks she took forever, we could never find her. Then to top the bill was wrong and it took her an hour to fix it. They really need to get more help for the outside area immediatley.
NEED NEW STAFF – I normally do not post a review but I just had to after last night. We wanted to be outside to enjoy NYC's first 80 degree weather in 2007. If it wasn't for the weather and great company I was with the night would of been a nightmare. The drinks were terrible. The Mojitos had old limes and old mint leaves. After the bad mojito I switched to a Cosmo and that wasn't any better. My friends also hated their drinks, so decided to switch to beer and they were HOT. Seemed like it just came out the stock room. Trendy – If you're looking for a good, trendy, outdoor, see-and-be-seen hotel bar, this is the place. It's loud and crowded, but the service isn't that bad, and it's not uncommon to spot celebrities.
Over charged and under-serviced! – I have never experienced such bad service in my life. When we decided to celebrate a special occasion at the Maritime lounge we quickly learned that was a mistake! When our server was asked, "What's in this martini?" she quickly snapped back, "I don't know, whatever it says that's in there." Besides the additude we received from the moment we walked in the door from the hostess, we were overcharged and our server tried to pull a fast one and keep $50 that we asked her to apply to the bill. ... read more
Just Order Drinks..... – Don't expect too much and you won't be let down. The outdoor seating and ambiance makes it a nice place to sit over a drink and chat with friends. Don't bother ordering food because it's overpriced and the quality is terrible. Service is a bit slow, but it's a good place to sit and relax if you're with friends.
Great pizza and outdoor seating – I was impressed by the thin crust pizza they served. It's some of the best in the Meatpacking district. The atmosphere was great, especially in the outdoor seating. The drink selection was above average, and the service was solid. I would definitely go back.
This nautical hotel lounge offers the romance of a cruise ship, without the risk of seasickness. – The Scene The retro decor of this quaint hotel lobby features a kitschy seafaring mural, soothing navy-blue accents and enough dark-wood paneling to suggest that the Love Boat has dropped anchor in Chelsea. A roaring fire heats up patrons in the winter months, but the warm weather lures visitors to an outdoor terrace, where spherical Chinese lanterns hang from above, and strings of blue lights spruce up neatly potted trees. Not fun! – Service was terrible!! For the prices they charge for teeny drinks ($10+) they could be a little much more accomodating. We had to ask 3 times for menus, wait 15 minutes for drinks. Everyone working there seemed confused about their jobs/tables. There are better places in the neighborhood. The scene wasn't worth it. Young professionals- new to NYC/ tourists.
