The Lookout is a RACIST, homophobic establishment that doesn't deserve any of your business. They booked a POC/Queer centered party TWO MONTHS IN ADVANCE knowing damn well what it was and then proceeded to kick out all organizers and guests for "misrepresenting" their establishment and customers. The owners both verbally and physically assaulted organizers and refused to explain specifically why we were not welcome to stay. They also threatened police action and slut-shamed organizers for their choice of clothing.
"The Lookout on capitol hill just tossed a bunch of brown and black trans and queer people out on a friday afternoon after setting up an event with them for qtpoc identifying persons. Boycott them and let them know transphobia and racism is unacceptable behavior for businesses on the hill."
I used to be a proponent of your establishment and will no longer continue to do so because of the racism, transphobia, and homophobia directed at THiRST patio party from both management and bar staff.
NOPE. The staff was incredibly homophobic and racist to organizers and attendees of a party I had planned on attending.
Came here for a gathering and the owner displayed blatant signs of both racism and homophobia. This is 2017 in Capitol Hill. If you are willing to support this business you're only perpetuating more homophobia and racism in this world. I'll only be back to encourage folks on the patio to think about what kind of establishment they are supporting. Transphobic and racist, what a wonderful combo. Get out of Capitol Hill!
RACIST & HOMOPHOBIC I walked past this establishment yesterday and witnessed the two white owners reprimanding a group of black and brown queer and trans people. I came to find out that the group had organized a patio party at the Lookout, and were then harassed and kicked out by the Lookout staff. The owner claimed he was kicking the patrons out because of the "type of music" they were playing (hip hop and other music made by people of color), and that the bar was getting complaints, (which seems highly unlikely for 6pm on ... read more
