My husband and I, along with several friends and family members stayed at the Godfrey to attend our son's wedding on Belle Isle. We had stayed at the Godfrey several years ago on the first weekend it opened. Our son and his fiancee were living across the street from Wayne State on Trumbull at the time, and the hotel was only about a mile from their apartment. I gave this hotel plenty of chances to make my situation right and the management has not called me back. When I checked out I noticed I had bar tabs on my room (I don't drink and didn't even go near the bar), electric charging fees from the valet (what?) and the housekeeper had stolen cash for my room while I had the do not enter sign. They came in anyway to clean and decided the cash under my stack of belongings was a tip. If you are like me and breakfast is important to you, this is not a hotel I would recommend you stay. They dont have any complementary breakfast but the breakfast we ordered at theor restaurant was not just super expensive but really horrible. Basic breakfast was burnt. We pay 18$ to get burnt food. The service staff at the restaurant were not great too. Only came in to check in when bringing the cheque to ensure we tip them; but the rest of the time they were no where to be seen (restaurant was empty).The rooms are great, h... read more
