To be fair, I went to this place 4 times before this review. Atmosphere and interior are very nice. Friendly front of house staff. Servers were on top of orders and service. The food however was uninspiring. The 18 hours ribs were great! Everything else I had was bland or average. On my last trip I had the seafood pot pie which was more like seafood soup with a cold doughy biscuit on top. Lacked basic seasoning and luke warm when it arrived at the table. Great looking bar with LOTS of local beer on tap. Good vibe, but noisy. Apps (ribs, crab cakes, wings) were very good. Entrees (steak frites & salmon) were both unexciting and undercooked. Service was good, especially in a newly opened restaurant. Significant wait for a table (45 mins @ 6p - increased to 90 mins by the time we were seated).
Have been following this story from the beginning and hit it on it's 2nd night open to the public. I love the Mills, so the space and it's homage to the founding roots of Manchester is spectacular; BUT it's the menu that was this Gluten Free Foodie's delight. There were so many options and everything our party ordered was not only outstanding, but all had a unique twist on farm to table food. Looking forward already to our next visit. Maybe we'll opt for the deck with a water view. :)
Talk about finding the diamond in the rough or the pearl in the oyster, the Foundry is Manchester's classiest restaurant by far. The food is farm to table freshness. Exceeded our expectations! The inside was beautiful, the service was great and the food absolutely rocked. We will definitely be back and are excited to enjoy the patio.
