The Derby is a great steakhouse Superb prime rib. Excellent tournedos de filet. Great appetizer selection. One of the best steakhouses I've ever been to. Right next to Embassy Suites on Huntington Drive. Valet parking. Note: not to be confused with the old Brown Derby restaurant.
Good Food- Good Service This is like the old restaurants I used to go to with my Mom...the food is not cheap but, reasonable for the quality and if you go, ask for Jonathan...he is THE BEST waiter there and he will really take care of you....all in all a great place. PROS: Jonathan CONS:
Very good restaurant with old fashioned charm This was my grandpapas favorite restaurant. Its a bit dark inside, and when you first walk in you can see cabinets of memorabillia related to horses and horse racing. The restaurant was once a favorite of Santa Anita fans and jockeys, when horse racing was in its heyday. Not Kid-Friendly, and Not Particularly Stellar Food My husband and I were so excited to try The Derby. We thought they'd be able to cook a great steak and would be a nice place for dinner. We found that the food was mediocre at best. My husband's medium steak was charred, and my lobster tasted fine going down but gave me the runs for several days afterward (sorry, but it's the truth). It was my husbands and myself first time out to dinner since the pandemic. I ordered prime rid medium plus and got rare first disappointment. The green beans were soggy second disappointment. What I truly couldn’t take was a cold cup of espresso third disappointment. Ha to send it back, what I got in return was a regular coffee no cream or sugar. Very disappointed in our dinner
