Get directionsAwful birthday evening – Despicable service - lack of wine choices by the glass and SOLD OUT of many, surly waitress and rude wait staff in general. Not inclined to return any time soon.
Great Surprise – Two great dishes --Duck and RockFish. What makes a really good French restaurant are the sauces and both were very good. With several glasses of wine and everything else, a meal like this for around $100 is a good value....way better than mass produced fare from a chain.
Don't go – I read all the reviews and felt this would be a good choice for a birthday celebration on Christmas Eve. (not too many places are open) The service was wonderful: the food was not. Nothing recommended on this site was even half good. Prices are reasonable, ambience ok, cleanliness excellent. We eat out all the time, so we feel we are somewhat educated on the food scene. This is not meant to put down this restaurant. It just simply was not good.
Nothing special – The decor is tired, the dining room gets loud. There is a constant stream of servers rushing past our table - diner style. The service was average at best. The steak frites was a notch above edible. The thin slab of meat was burnt on the outside and red on the inside - I ordered it medium. If this is suppose to be an "excellent" restaurant in Boston, then we've still got a far way to go. We didn't valet, but I noticed the cars were all parked in the valet zone or left double parked on the busy busy Boylston... read more
What's so great? – My wife and I may have ordered wrong, but the main course we ordered was par at most. We got the 'steak' which was a thin slab of beef cooked in butter sitting on top of fries. For the price we paid, it was not worth it. Maybe we ordered wrong, our appetizer was good and so was the wine selection and dessert. We looked around at the plates at other tables and they looked better. The service was excellent though which keeps me from giving this restaurant a bad rating, but there are too many other restaurant... read more
Go to Jo's – I have been to Jo's on multiple occasions. I am a picky eater, so the limited menu is a little tough, but everything I have ordered, from the Pork Tenderloin, to the steak tartar, to the burger is amazing...plus save room for dessert! The martinis are the best in town, that is if you like them Shakin'!! And the Service is the best part, make sure to eat at the bar some night and say hi to Michael, Kevin and Cesan.
good french fare – Very nice atmosphere, great food. Feels like a cafe in Paris. It wouold be nice if they stayed open later...
Fabulous – The food was delicious. My friend had the Skate and I had the Swordfish. Beautifully prepared, both were moist and full of flavor. As an appetizer, I ordered the Pate and my friend ordered the Onion soup. I liked hers better than mine, but we were very pleased. The service had unmatched quality. We highly recommend the profiterol with the chocolate sauce as a desert (yum!).
Com-frit-ly the best... – Fries are awesome with the Steak Frit!! Nobody else in town compares.
