This large, friendly and award-winning Irish pub is divided into a front bar and a back room. Live music is played every night, and many nights there are simultaneous performances in the two rooms. Guinness is a very popular draft, but there are plenty of imports, microbrews and other beers to choose from. The menu is basic: appetizers and salads, burgers and sandwiches, roasted meats. Irish dishes include Shepherd's Pie, Guinness Stew, Irish Breakfast (on weekends), and Roast Dinner (on Sunday evenings).

I'm not often out this way, but when I'm in the mood for live Irish music, traditional food (e.g. fish and chips-->fries) and a pint, this is the place. The place has real age and character to it, feeling like you are stepping into a bit of history.
Hearty food near Davis – This was a solid place for a heavy winter meal. The service kind of sucks... the waitress seemed really stressed out and annoyed that she was working and barely stopped to take our order, let alone ask how everything was doing as the meal progressed. I had some clam chowder, which was delicious, and sampled some of my boyfriend's steak - it was decent, definitely better than we could have cooked but not outstanding or anything. I hear their 80s night is pretty fun as well. Good selection of beer.
Great place for lunch – I had a perfectly poured Guiness and the most delicious fish and chips I've ever had for lunch. We sat on the patio on a beautiful day and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I can't wait to try it out at night for after work drinks and dinner.
One of my favorite Irish bars – I always have fun here. Not only is the Irish music good, but the bar also has 80s/90s bands. A perfect place to bring friends and spend the night out. The bartenders are *decent* for such a busy place, but once you make yourself a regular, drinks are easy to come by. What I like most about the Burren is the layout. There is ample room to sit, dance, talk, etc
Great Irish pub – I love this place. It definitely is as authentic as you can get for an Irish pub. A lot of the bartenders and bouncers are actually from Ireland, and I don't think I can remember a time I've been there when I haven't heard at least one Irish accent among the people in front of the bar as well. I recently found out that the owners actually live in Ireland, so I suppose that's part of the reason why it's so legit. The live music in the front is consistently good, and the beer selection is great. The atmospher... read more
Brings Ireland back to Boston! – No better Irish bar outside of Boston Propper---at least not that i've found! Lot's of live music, Irish and otherwise, and on Tuesday nights (i think) they even have Irish Step-dancing lessons in the back. Great pints, great accents. It's Boston, it's Ireland, and it's right there in Davis Square!!
As Irish as it gets – If you're looking for Live Irish music then you gotta check out the Burren. I never like paying a cover in Davis sq. with The Joshua Tree, Redbones and Orleans nearby, but the Burren has a one of a kind atmosphere. There are two rooms. The first is a kind of gathering area with a good bar. The second is where the music is at with room for dancing or whatever it is a bunch of grads and undergrads do to Irish music. This place is jumping every St. Patrick's Day morning.
A Somerville standout: energetic Irish music, dancing and the requisite variety of Irish beer. – The Scene Irish music and dancing are the centerpiece at this large Davis Square pub, which is usually packed with a boisterous crowd of Tufts grads and undergrads. But don't count out folks from the other side of the river who are looking for live music, a great beer selection (Guinness, Murphy's Irish Stout and Caffrey's, to name a few) and perhaps a phone number or two. The Draw The Burren's secret weapon is the music. You'll ... read more
A Thursday night must. – One of the constants in Boston for me over the past 5 years is guaranteed great time at the Burren on Thursday night's. Not for the Irish music being played in the front room or the thickly-accented and friendly bartenders, but the 80's cover band the Swinging Johnsons playing in the back room It is always packed, espeically when the Tuft's students are in session, but it is worth it. I want the Swinging Johnson's to play at my wedding. They are that good.
The Burren has a 4.5 star rating with 2,158 reviews.
