Great staff, lovely hospital
The Avenue hospital is lovely, excellent surgeons, rooms and nurses, all fantastic. The food however is so sub-standard and does not reflect the quality of the hospital. It makes you want to bring your own food in.
The nursing staff at this hospital seem to be very competent and were happy to take the time needed to discuss my Mum's treatment with me. The rooms are also very clean. The food however is a total let down with my Mum now refusing to eat it. Most of it looks like it's come from a tin and is inedible. When people are trying to recover, getting proper nutrition is critical. One meal of fish and chips was served with a half piece of fish and a plate of chips with no fresh salad. Professional Surgeon, Dangerous Nursing Incident. I had shoulder surgery here with Dr. Emma Lewis, who was fantastic and highly professional. However, my post-operative care was a nightmare. Following surgery, a nurse injected anti-nausea medication (Cyclizine) intravenously. I believe it was pushed way too fast; my heart rate immediately spiked to over 150 bpm, triggering a Medical Emergency (MET Call) and an emergency transfer to the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
