Location, location, location! What I loved: being close to everything in the downtown pulse of Athens and 2 min walk to Key Tours pick up (try the Delphi tour). Loved the staff at reception and the restaurant (Evida stood out). The room had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. We loved that view at sunset for dinner and in the morning for a delicious breakfast! Menu prices for dinner were reasonable and food was good. The location of this hotel is walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Acropolis. Great breakfast offered at the rooftop restaurant. Spectacular views of the Acropolis. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Service was wonderful. We were departing hotel early one morning and they arranged breakfast to take on the go which was lovely. Would definitely stay here again for it’s convenient location.

What not to like about this hotel - location is unbeatable and reception and concierge staff are so helpful. Its walking distance to the Acropolis which you can view from the rooftop breakfast and restaurant. The breakfast spread is good but would do better with some variety if youre staying several days. The rooms are nicely appointed - we had views over the street and looking out to the Zeus temple - only downside was the lack of double glazed windows meaning the road noise filters through. We have just come to the end of our 1 week holiday in Athens. The Athens Gate Hotel is to be strongly recommended. The hotel is spotless and the staff, from the chefs to the housekeepers, were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was a little small but nice The view wasn't brilliant but we were out exploring for the most part so not really a problem. My wife and I stayed at Athens Gate on our recent honeymoon. We loved the rooftop breakfasts, the friendly staff, and we had a good experience with the rooms. It's hard to beat for the price and I would highly recommend the superior room with a view of the Temple of Zeus/Olympia. Cool to stay somewhere right next to history as a way to start your trip. This hotel is VERY close to the south entrance to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. Great location if those are a part of your Athens itinerary. It's a much longer walk... read more
