This business lacks the professionalism and expertise that you should expect from a veterinary practice. When our dog was sick, they left her inside of a cage for over 10 hours because they couldn't appropriately schedule the visiting specialist or communicate appropriately about expectations. In addition, they've tried to bill me twice for unnecessary services because they lack the coordination and organization to appropriately manage their facility. The Animal Hospital and its staff have set the GOLD STANDARD for care of our animals. I've been beyond thrilled with all of our experiences here over the last seven years that we've been clients. We've been bringing all six of our animals (three dogs, three cats) here, and Dr Tokiwa (Dr T!) and his staff have always taken the time and care to thoroughly understand our animals and their needs. I went here yesterday as a new to the area pet owner hoping for a lifetime vet. The Vet tech was very nice because my cat threw up in her cage as I was carrying her in and she put me right in a room so she could clean the carrier. But the vet came in and never introduced herself. She started one of her sentences with "well because I am a doctor so...." She was a bit arrogant and I almost felt dismissed by her immediately. I was thoroughly impressed with the hospital from top to bottom. I arrived on time and was seen almost immediately. My pet has had a chronic issue and I had taken him to several other Vets. When I explained the situation Dr. Tokiwa actively listened to my description and ran me through a series of questions to narrow down the causes. His course of action to treat my pet was carefully explained. His staff was friendly and helpful and very professional.
I ask for a quote on a male kitten. 550! that is obscene. Just because I had never gone to your practice it doesn't mean that I don't know that its way too much. Three other local vets quoted 200, 130 and 150. How sick that you would take advantage of someone. 550, just for the spay. CRAZY Country Vet down the road much more reasonable and Hopewell Vet costs are great.
Although I have not taken my personal pets here, I have worked elsewhere with Dr. Tokiwa and several of his staff members. He is one of the many talented doctors with whom I have worked emergency service. As great as he was in emergency situations, I am sure in general practice he is incredible!
We drive an hour round trip to bring our 3 dogs to Dr. Tokiwa and his staff. There are many vets located closer to us, but Dr. Tokiwa earned our trust by his treatment of Kirby, our last dog. He is down to earth (literally, he will sit on the ground with fearful dogs to make them more comfortable), makes time to explain options so you feel a part any decisions, and he takes advantage of continuing educational opportunities so your family members always receive state of the art advice and treatment.
