great customer sevice – out of towner who makes the TCP his 1st stop.good bar,great people who work there and the migas for breakfast a great way to start your day.nice place to mingle with the locals and nice atmosphere at night
A temple to one of Texas' sacred dishes, served in its unadorned glory. – In Short This Capitol area cafe's decor mixes the faux antique signs of chain restaurants with beer joint bric-a-brac. The crowd includes businessmen, construction workers and state employees. The dining rooms are small and the tables are close together at peak times. The chili is served with only a few slivers of onion and jalapeno. The meat is tender, yet keeps its shape. There are three serving sizes and three levels of heat.
Unimpressive – With a namesake like Texas CHILI Parlor, you would expect the chili to be above average if not exceptional. This however was not the case during my visit. The chili and frito-pie were terrible. The "spicy" chili lacked heat and the frito-pie was bland. I could barely stomach the frito-pie after a few bites. Save the $15 and stop by Wendy's for their 99 cent chili which is actually a whole lot better and probably healthier.
Frito pie, baby! – I'm a Chicagoan, and every time I visit Austin, I make this place numero uno on my list. Gotta have the Frito pie. Great laid-back atmosphere.
