Grate Room ( main stage ) , shows in the restaurant and a relatively new outdoor stage. All top notch . Great food , music and very cozy . Sometimes Free shows and sometimes reasonably priced . There are some expensive shows here too (my only complaint) Great place to meet your friends and have a nice time. Phil Lesh has always been accessible every time I've gone . That is super cool
What wasn't great? The pop-up free concert? The food and beverage? The best backyard a place could have? The amazing staff? IT WAS ALL FANTASTIC. Seriously, it was all perfect. Top notch operation here, with a ton of good vibes.
I wouldn't go back. Management appears to have no clue what they are doing and the place was dirty. I had one beer and refused to order food, due to the silverware on the floor, crumbs all over the tables, sticky menus, and crusted on food on the pint glass. Also, for reasons I can't fathom, folks seem to think it's a great place to take kids. So expect them to be running around. On the plus side, it's right on the canal in San Rafael and their outdoor area is quite enjoyable.
I love all the great live music in the bar and always friendly, familiar faces. Some day, I'll actually eat here.

Usually places like this are popular due to ownership not the food. In this case both are awesome.
this place has something special about it - just feels like home - and fun - and something good is happening right close by....
When I came here as a Dutch Deadhead it didn't take long to make some friends with whom I could drink, eat and listen to the music!
