My name is Leon Chartarifsky. Dr. Tirstein installed a stent in one of my arteries back in 1995 at Scripps Clinic La Jolla. I still have it and very grateful for his expertise. I am healthy with no issues.
I had an angiogram locally that showed substantial blockage in three vessels and was told I would need heart-bypass surgery because stenting would be too dangerous. I presented Dr. Teirstein with a copy the angiogram & he said that he could safely stent the blockage. He indeed successfully stented the affected vessels & I'm doing fine.
Dr. Teirstein performed a TAVR procedure to replace my aortic valve with an Edwards SAPIEN 3 Ultra Resilia Heart Valve. Although most TAVR procedures are done via the groin, I asked if the axillary artery in my chest could be used and to my surprise, that is exactly what he and his wonderful team did for me which made care and recovery of the site easier on me. Forever grateful to Dr Teirstein for saving my Mother’s life not once but twice deploying stents in my mother’s arteries 18 years ago. My mother is still alive at 88 and doing very well! My Mom is Evelyn Mager, a retired RN.

Quite literally speaking, Dr. Teirstein saved my life and at the same time gave me a much better quality of life. I avoided CABG and my interventional surgery only lasted about 90 minutes. I was able to go home the same day. Thank you and God Bless you Dr Teirstein!!
