Fraudulent practices – We had our brakes done here for the same price as the dealership. Our brakes were scraping afterward, so we took it back and left it for a whole day. They said they just needed to be used a little more. After taking it to another shop and having to replace the roters b/c of their work, we were given the pads back and THEY WERE GENERIC PARTS NOT HONDA. They lied to us.
Be ware of their price – Got an Acura with bad Brake-Light-Switch. Dealer quoted $51 (parts, labor, and tax). Called Tao, $140 + TAX. Needless to say, no go. Did myself $16.06. :-)
So Long Tao – I have gone to Tao for over 10 years but no more. Took my car in bc ac not working quote ranged between $1800-$2800. Took my car today to Mission Valley Auto Service, got AC fixed with a new compressor for $600. Took my husbands car to Tao for the AC to be re-charged, Tao charged $150, the place that fixed my car charges $69 for same service. Tao does great work and never questioned their prices until today, very glad that i shopped around!
The reason my next car will be a honda – I bought an Eclipse, but quickly discovered, there are no mechanics local that compare to Tao. Tao recommended someone on North Raleigh I'll have to try. Tao had worked on our '97 Civic and '03 CR-V. They have always explained exactly what was necessary, and been quick and helpful. They have fixed several small issues for free. Most honest mechanic – I would give these guys 10 stars. My 2003 Honda completely lost air conditioning and they could have ripped me off royally. Instead Tao told me to haggle with Honda even though the warranty was 2000 miles over the limit. The Tao guys told me that this is a particular problem with my year and model. I took my car to Honda and they paid for 90% of a bill that would have cost close to $1800. I just came from L.A. where I know they would have tried to rip me off. Refreshingly Honest – I had a lot of trouble with noise and a bumpy ride on my car. I asked Tao (Cary) to do what ever was necessary to fix it - replace struts, brakes, shocks - any thing! When I returned, the manager said "no charge, you need to get a better set of tires". Most of the repair shops in this area, including the dealers would have replaced "everything" and charged a fortune. Thanks, TAO
Best for Hondas...PERIOD – A couple years ago my 91 Honda CRX started randomly cutting off on me. I could be going down the highway and lose all power. Or maybe it just wouldn't start on a certain day. I took it to Tao and they could have told me anything and I would have believed them. It was a loose wire. Total parts + labor = $22. I got a 00 Honda Civic recently and I refuse to take it anywhere else. They are the best!
TAO AUTO has very poor customer service! – Tao needs to work on their customer service. I have not found them to be responsive. They are short on the phone and not very helpful. They consistently take on too many repair jobs and don't get to my car in a timely way. I had to rent a car for 4 days because they couldn't get to my repair. I went to the TAO in Raleigh. Great job – To tell you why I will continue to bring my Honda to Tao Auto, I should tell you about the repair places that could not fix the problems that Tao diagnosed and fixed the first time. 1) Honda dealer. Claimed my Air conditioner was not even broken, claiming that this model year of Civic had a weak AC. At Tao, I dropped the car off at 4:00 PM the day before my schedule service and Tao had diagnosed the problem by 5:00 PM and had called me.
