September 2025 edit* *I'm disappointed to hear of the owner's choice to fire and ban the employees who were striking for better working conditions for themselves and the rest of the Talking Headz staff, as well as better living conditions for their shop cat Biggie. Talking Headz has been a cultural touchstone for the queer and alt community for over a decade and tbh, firing people for wanting better isn't very punk rock *Great haircut from Nox, great atmosphere, great cat!
I’ve been to a lot of salons, but this one stands out. The space is spotless, and you can tell they take cleanliness seriously. What I appreciated most was how welcoming and open-minded everyone was. You don’t feel judged here—you just feel safe to be yourself. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a salon that truly cares about its clients.
This salon is a gem. From the moment you walk in, it feels clean, bright, and comfortable. The staff create an environment where all people are respected and treated with kindness. It’s more than just about the haircut….it’s about feeling safe and relaxed while you’re there. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. They maintain such high standards of cleanliness, and it shows. The team is incredibly open-minded and makes you feel comfortable no matter who you are or how you show up. It’s refreshing to have a salon where the atmosphere is safe, welcoming, and inclusive. Five stars without question.
I love Talking Headz. I started coming here when I lived in West Philly 9 years ago; I’ve since moved to South Philly and to Northwest Philly and I still come back. The stylists are great, they play fun music, and the vibe is the opposite of stuffy.
