One of the best Tale of the Whale is probably one of the best restaurants in the Outer Banks. The elegant, yet casual, atmosphere is inviting, and the service is excellent. This is an upscale restaurant, so the prices are a little high, but the food is amazing. This is a must for anyone's trip to the OBX.
Great View! We visited Tale of a Whale for my dad's birthday this summer and had a great time. This is an upscale restaurant, so be prepared to dress a little nicer and pay a little more for your meal, but it is definitely worth it! We enjoyed listening to music on the dock before our table was ready, while our kids danced to the music. It was a lot of fun. The service was exceptional and the food was very good. Highly recommend eating here!
Overpriced and not worth it... We decided to eat here because of all the good reviews, but we were very disappointed. The food was overpriced and not that good. If you want a Tale of the Whale glass, it will cost you $10! It does not come with their overpriced drinks... The only good thing was the view. It was so beautiful. We saw lots of birds and fish jumping.
One of the better obx restaurants! There'll be a wait, but it'll be worth it! Food's amazing, beautiful view of the sound, fantastic service and great atmosphere. While we waited outside on the sound, there was a band playing that made the wait enjoyable, people don't seem to mind waiting because it's so relaxing!
Seafood, Ambience, and Key Lime Margaritas Very good dining experience. Professional staff. Great food. We arrived and were told we had 20 minutes before we could be seated. We ventured down to the dock and ordered cocktails and visited with our friends. They had live entertainment on the dock. It was most enjoyable sitting on the water. The ambience unsurpassable. Out of all the places we dined in Nags Head, Tale of the Whale was the best.
RecommendedThe finest pure dining experience the Outer Banks has to offer! Highly recommend as a MUST go experience. As a proud Marylander, the only Crab Cake that would please a Maryland palate. The fish duo or trio entrees are beyond superb! We have been going here for about 25+ years and always make sure to dine here! Wait staff are equal to the task!
Absolutely fantastic experience. The staff, the food quality and preparation and the attention to detail are all top shelf.
Great food and fast service
Food was amazing! I had the chicken and steak skewers and my husband had the 12 oz. Ribeye. Everything was done perfectly with great flavor and quality was excellent. We finished up our meal with a piece of Pumpkin Cheesecake! So delicious! It was our first time eating here and we will definitely be back!
