Bad News Mexican Ripoffs – The tacos el carbon was basically pork with onions and tomatoes. No extras at all. Need a bit more onion, OK that's 90 cents. How about a bit of cilantro? sure how about 90 more cents gringo. Do we not get the traditional side of tortillas that is so often served with this type of meal? Certainly not. Even though you are spending over 30 bucks for two people, we will have to charge for anything and everything that is not specifically listed for each dish. How about some salt and pepper. Oh that my ... read more
Seriously good tacos – I've been to Jalisco 3 or 4 times in the past month alone. They really have some of the best tacos in Denver, and the friendly service only adds to the vibe. My Spanish ain't so good so I don't recall the names of all of the specialty tacos they do, but my favorite so far is a version with steak, ham and bacon. Now that is awesome. They also have a great adobada taco that may even rival my previous favorite in that category, El Taco de Mexico. I do have to mention while isn't expensive, it also isn't t... read more
AVOID,$7.50 a house marg, u kidding me? – Just got back from dining here and falling to victims to the positive reviews. I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon which is a favorite of mine. They were basically pork tacos with their tomatoes/onion salsa. Word of advice check out La Cueva on Colfax for the best and real Tacos Al Carbon. The food was average. I ordered a House Margarita with my meal. With no prices listed, i assumed a house marg at a hole in the wall Mexican place would be $4 or $5. At most $5.50-6. $7.50!! I asked our w... read more
Burritos!!! – Excellent Burritos and a great value. Some of their menu items are overpriced like their tacos and sided but the Big burrito for under $6 is a winner!
Great and authentic Mexican! – This place is as close as you can get to eating in North central mexico. Great tacos al carbon, rellenos etc. They serve american-mexican dishes too (fajitas, burritos, chimichangas) but they are done better elsewhere. Stick with the classics here and you can't go wrong. In addition to the tacos al carbon and the rellenos the Tamales are great as is anything involving carnitas.
BEST IN DENVER – I'm from Texas and this is the Best Mexican Food in Denver, by far. The parking is a problem but worth the trouble. No problem with service.... fun wait staff and no problem getting seated quickly even on Fridays for dinner. YUM!
Service: bad and getting worse – This is a great little joint serive good Mexican chow, but their service (which wasn't all that great to begin with) has gotten steadily worse in the 2 yrs. I've frequented this spot. Come armed with patience and give their breakfast burritos a try.
Fantastic carnitas! – If you actually know a bit about good Mexican food, you'll really like this place. The carnitas and tacos al carbon are to die for! 4 great salsas served with your chips. Great prices. Decent margaritas and good beer.
dd this one to your list – Seven salsas are served to your table as you sit down - ranging from hot to mild this place has the best salsa and chips. The liquados are authentic too. The mexican food is good but not a lot of selection there. I recommend the Carnitas or Carne Adobada if it's available.
