The National Bureau of Standards, now known as the National Institute of Standards and Technology, was founded in 1901. During the 1930s and 1940s, Dr. Roy B. Hunter was the head of the plumbing division. His papers set many of the plumbing standards that are still used today.

Even when your building’s plumbing system is in relatively good condition, you may find that a building renovation requires reconfiguring plumbing. When you’re in this position, it’s critical to bring in a plumber with significant experience working with commercial plumbing systems, as these can be more complex than residential plumbing.

What is hard water, and why should you care about it? Hard water means there is a significant percentage of minerals, such as magnesium and calcium, in your tap water. This isn't dangerous, but it can reduce the life of your appliances and make it more difficult to clean dishes, clothes, and your body.

How do I know if I have polybutylene pipes in my home? The best way to determine this is to have a plumbing expert inspect your pipes. Polybutylene was fairly common in the Sun Belt, the Mid Atlantic states and also in the Northwest.

Did you know that installing double vanity sinks in your master bathroom will add convenience to your morning routine and may add value to your home, too? Depending on your current plumbing layout, a double vanity may not be that extensive a retrofit, either.

If you have polybutylene pipes in your home, your best option is to completely repipe the potable water system in your home. Delaying polybutylene replacement can have devastating consequences, and pipe replacement should be seen as a hidden investment.

Did you know that the floating mechanism in your toilet’s water tank is called a ballcock and it controls the flow of water? This may come in handy next time you're seeking help from a plumber or for a random trivia question.

Many commercial plumbing installations utilize CPVC pipe. What is it? CPVC is a thermoplastic chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipe designed to carry hot and cold water. More affordable than copper, it’s more resistant to high heat than traditional PVC pipe.

One of the benefits of video pipe inspection is that the camera allows us to actually see the interior condition of the drain line. This level of detail allows us to quickly and accurately identify any problems as well as the best way to proceed.
