Bakery I'm a softy for bakeries. If you are doing the Czech tour, you need to stop here for a sampling of Czech food as well. I love the apricot and blueberry kolachies they make fresh here daily. You can not eat just one. The store is an old building with creaky wood floor. There are a couple tables to sit and enjoy the kolachies. The prices are still inexpensive for fresh items. PROS: CONS: can't eat just one item!

Sykora Bakery....well worth the drive for tasty treats! Finding myself in Cedar Rapids last week, near 16th Avenue I remembered reading about Sykora Bakery and decided to give iot a whirl so to speak! Now I am not a driver in any sense of the word, preferring my drives to be close to home but since I was in the area something urged me to hunt out this bakery...and am I glad I did! Czech Bakery Every time I visit Czech Village, I stop at the bakery. They have the best kolachies you will find in the area. They are made fresh right there every day. You can purchase many other items as well, such as cinnamon rolls, fresh baked bread in many varieties, pastries and muffins. There is an area you can sit and enjoy the goods there. The floor is old and worn. Be sure to note the ceiling fan which is a huge step back in time.
what to say...too amazing for words! How shall I start? Let's just say that my family lives 5 hours from Cedar Rapids in a suburb of Chicago. Whenever we can, we drive the five hours there and back JUST for the bakery! That's how amazing it is! It's just a shame that the best bakery in the world isn't publicized. Nobody knows about it. I want everybody in the world to rush to the best bakery in the whole universe: Sykora's Bakery. The BEST poppyseed and cherry filled pastries of all time! Go to Sykora's!
PHENOMINAL BAKERY This bakery is in the heart of "Czech Village". It is always very busy and definitely somewhere to get to right when they open at 5:30am - all the good stuff is gone by 7am!!! Wide variety of fresh baked pastries from crossiants to collaches. Famous for their variety of flavors of collaches. Fresh breads also available. Will custom make pastries for pick up as well. Family owned and operated - definite home-baked!!
