It’s 11 degrees here this morning. A woman came in with a backpack and settled in the back corner - away from everyone else. The manager came over and forced her to leave. She was homeless. Someone tried to buy her something but the woman was embarrassed and just left quietly. Back into the 11 degree weather. I can’t go back knowing that this is how they respond - with more coldness on an already bitterly cold morning instead of a hot mug for some tea to warm up. What is humanity becoming if we don’t take care of each other?
