TASTY SUSHI~!!! – Shopping at the South Street Seaport has never been a better experience!! I dined at Suteishi this past weekend and was very impressed. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and cozy with a modern / contemporary decor and a breath taking glass view of the Brooklyn Bridge, which is suitable for a night out with a crowd or a date. The appetizer "Hot Fried Shrimps" was delicious (I recommend it highly)!! The "Sushi / Sashimi" platters were fresh and presented gorgeously. The "Fried Bananas" dessert portion wa... read more

Great Lunch Experience – Thanks to all the reviews of Suteishi, I decided to give lunch a try with some co-workers. We were extremely pleased with our "experience". The waitress explained that the menu offered tried and true favorite dishes in addition to new, cool and interesting selections. We went with her suggestions and had a variety of the traditional sushi and sashimi but tried many unique, interesting types of rolls. My co-worker is not a sushi eater but fully enjoyed the eggplant, filet mignon hot rock (he cooked it... read more

Delicious sushi near Water street – This is a great restaurant for NYU students dorming at Water St. I have eaten at many of the other restaurants in the area, was sick of slow, rude service, and typical American food. Suteishi offers a pleasant and welcome alternative, adds to the diversity of the neighborhood and is less than a 5 minute walk from the dorms. I visited for the first time a month ago, and have already returned for the sushi and the hot rocks, as well as the relaxing decor and attentive and friendly staff. I t... read more

i read great reviews about this place (on and off citysearch) so i decided to go for dinner. from the time i stepped in to the time i left, everything was cute. the decor, the space, the table settings... very chelsea. ok, now about the food. i sincerely expected better. one reviewer mentions that the menu could be a little bigger. i agree! all of the items on the menu are things i have tried at some point or another at other restaurants (avocado salad, fried oysters, all of the sushi and roll items, the ceviche, fried banan... read more

Great sushi and great service! – Suteishi is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. Their fried oysters, orange dragon roll and filet mignon "hot rock" dishes are scrumptuous. The hostess is a doll and the service is always impeccable. Since the restaurant is mainly windows, you get a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge (quite stunning in the evening) and the ambience is cozy and friendly, yet sophisticated. The atmosphere is versatile enough for a night out with friends, families with kids or even those looking to enjoy a d... read more

Melts Like Butter.. – This was a random choice of the evening... and I was impressed!!! Everything was fantastic, the sushi (oh so buttery), the cooked goods, the desserts and the staff. We were treated like family from the start - and that says alot for a japanese restaurant. I swear I could have sat and ate all night here. I absolutely loved the salmon cerviche and the fried oysters - all recommended by the host. It was great, a definite repeat!!

Great sushi at South Street Seaport – This restaurant has the makings of a good Japanese neighborhood restaurant and magnet for nearby Seaport visitors. The seafood was top shelf as were the salads. My husband and I shared the chef's select sashimi of the day, which was outstanding. Next time we're each having our own fried oysters instead of sharing - they melted in our mouths! The noodle soups were tasty, but could have been a bit larger. The modern setting, friendly staff and casual vibe were all welcming.

The Place for Sushi Downtown! – A great place to meet friends and have a nice little sushi dinner! The decor is great, the service is wonderful, and I know I will definitely go back! My only input is the possible future expansion of the sushi menu. Compared to other sushi restaurants, the quality is great, but could be more creative. I HIGHLY recommend the hot stone when you go!!!!
