Lived at a SREMI property for 3 years - never had an issue until today. Was told to take down sun blocking blinds during a declared state of emergency due to excessive heat because they weren't "uniform". Where is the compassion? I understand that the property has regulations against window coverings so that foil, flags, or banners are not used, but normal curtains made to block excessive direct sun?

I rented from this company for 6 months from June 2019 - December 2019. I have 30 days notice, as required by most state laws, that I was not going to renew my lease and that I would be vacating the property by December 31st, the last day of my lease. My keys were turned in 8:00 am that day. They did a walk through on Jan 2, 2020, and sent me a bill. It included a cleaning fee and carpet cleaning, as expected. I had applied to one of their managed properties and got denied. When I asked why, the on-site property manager (who told me she had only been working there less than a week) said that she didn't know, but everything would be laid out in a letter I would recieve from the screening department.
