Outdated practice, operating like it's 1983. If you would like to get YOUR medical records, you better have a fax number or live close enough to pick them up in person. I explained that I live across the country, and (of course) I don't have a fax number. The person said, "Oh, then you can't get them." So basically, I can only have my needed medical records if I fly 6 hours to NJ or get a fax number? Impressive customer service!
