I live in LA but have been coming to the Summerland Café literally for decades and have always enjoyed their breakfast egg dishes and yesterday enjoyed their granola yogurt and fruit plate, but I am completely appalled at the fact they do not offer tapwater and force customers to order expensive designer bottled water which even high-end restaurants in Los Angeles do not do. Hadn't been here in years was really looking forward to it for my birthday. They have a big sign over their door that says dog friendly. But the first thing they asked me was if my dog was a service animal and then wanted to see her ID and the paperwork that I carry for her. Which they should know is it illegal to ask for. Then to top it all off the food was really bad.... I had to send my food back 3 times. Then I was sick from at the whole rest of the day. Potatoes were cold, not cooked right and omelet was not seasoned, manager needs to sample food a bit better, View was great. Server was kind.
Food was delicious and very large portions. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather and watching all the hummingbirds around us while eating.
Excellent as always. This has always been one of my favorite breakfast spots.
