Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen is a must visit on the McKinney Square. We celebrated my birthday in style thanks to their amazing front house manager Herman Benefield and the unique & talented Chef Don Flores. We wanted a personal experience which Herman expertly assisted in crafting as we planned a menu just for the occasion. My husband and I were in town for my birthday and stumbled upon SugarBacon. It was a great place to sit at the bar and catch the Longhorns game while having delicious cocktails and food. Ben and Matt were extremely busy at the bar but were great at keeping up the pace, and Herman was super knowledgeable about the wine selection and didn't hesitate to help me find one I'd enjoy. We can't wait to come back!!!

The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. I always appreciate an honest opinion when trying to decide between 2 entrees. Had the shrimp and grits (which I was told was great but they were working on the presentation) and he was spot on! Good dish but plated awkwardly, shrimp separate from the grits and shrimps had the heads and tails on. Not ideal when on a date or for ladies who have fancy manicures. Great selection, awesome cocktails, and lively atmosphere.
