Coffee Snobs Unite! – Stumptown is only tasteless to those whose palates require heaping spoonfuls of sugar, creamer, and artificial flavorings. I'm surprised that Stumptown, with their notoriously high standards, allows places like Vivace and New Seasons to serve (mutilate) their espresso. Those in Portland who recognize the difference between the rich, deep, velvety, creamy, bittersweet-chocolatey goodness of an expertly crafted macchiato, and the giant dose of sugary sludge Starbucks shamefully deems a "caramel macchiato,... read more

Mocha was horrible – Tried out the Stumptown at 4525 SE Division for the first time. I've had Stumptown at other places like Vivace's on 23rd and have liked them a lot. The coffee at this place, however, is horrible. The mocha that I ordered had absolutely no flavor to it. I've gotten more flavor drinking water out of the tap. Would not recommend it. I know that I will not be returning for another visit.

fire the french guy – I can't explain what it feels like to get verbally smacked in the face by a barista who is French and has no business being rude to Portlanders who invented Stumptown and he, just visiting, working as a waiter/barista, turned me off the place I had been going to for a year, please fire him or tell him to go and wash dishes. The coffee has always been good, the service often great, especially the girls, but the guys are mostly, 60% rude, condescending and "too cool" for life...

The best coffees in the world. – This, like any Stumptown cafe, is the place for some of the best coffee in the world. Service is what it is: a barista asking you what you want. If you haven't had enough coffee at 10 in the morning, you need to be sympathetic to them being brusque. The cafe opens at 6, they are not on your schedule, but they will help you keep it. Latte art is good, flavors are better. I prefer the division location because customers there seem to know how to stay out of other customers way, but the Belmont ... read more

yes , the coffe is good but the service makes the coffe taste horrible – What's the problem with this "so much attitude hipters waiter"? can they smile sometimes? or can they make eye contact sometimes? or Can the say more than ,uh?. They have the skill to make a horrible enviroment , that it's something that you can see if you go there.

Best flippin' coffee EVER! – You know, the best part about Stumptown are their business ethics. They are a responsible community business that deserves all of our support... and the coffee! Holy shmolly the coffee is unbeatable!

of course the coffee is great, BUT.... – what the hell is up with an exclusively male work force in the roastery? sure seems to be a tattooed boys-only club. as progressive as stumptown is in other areas, it's a real bummer to see that.

The poor customer service will leave a bad taste in your mouth. – This place has excellent coffee. With that being said, I would rather drink sub par coffee rather than deal with the Stumptown staff. They are rude and unfriendly. For a while I put up with the poor customer service to get a good cup of coffee. Today I ordered a drink and I got a paper cup that was split at the seam. When I took the cup it broke and my drink spilled on another customer. The three Baristas watched the whole thing go down and their response was ... read more

Excellent coffee – Saw this place as I was driving by, and it had the right look to it. Went back for coffee and was impressed with the both the roast and the quality of the drink. It's a nice spot, they have good equipment and turn out a good drink.
