Never again. What a joke of a place- do not bring anything of value there to sell. I've had NUMEROUS problems and now know better than to bring my clothes there to sell. I've brought in designer clothes, purses, shoes, and very nice prom dresses. What did I receive in return? $7.00. Not only did they completely inappropriately price my items (specifically the prom dresses- one they priced for $14) but I never trust that they give me the amount of money I deserve at the end of it. It depends on your outlook. I am a fanatic about thrifting and going to yard sales. I have been shopping at Stuff for many years and I've never had a problem with their staff. That doesn't mean it can't happen but every store has the potential to have a bad employee, not just Stuff. I do find many of their items overpriced but if I look long enough I can find some really cool deals. "You can take it with you.......DUH!" My experience at Stuff Etc was about a year ago, and I haven't returned since. I was shopping with my sister from out of town and I found a space heater. As you can imagine, it was very large and I asked an employee who was just standing around if I could leave it somewhere until checkout so I didn't have to carry it around with me. Are you kidding I was recently shopping in the coralville stuff etc location and I was shocked. It is ridiculously expensive and the employees are the rudest I have ever experienced. If I asked a question the acted like it was out of their way and how dare I interrupt them. I had no idea that most of their clearance merchandies was in the basement and the employees acted like I was supposed to know that having never shopped their before. "Stuff Etc" is the best of it's kind! wow- i read a lot of whining in many of the reviews. i have been an active stuff customer/ consignor since the very beginning, when they started with a 2 person staff in a little overcrowded building in iowa city. i am also a cronic garage-saler and resale shopper. first i want to address the staff...yes, i too have had a few poor experiences over the years, but even my favorite dining place doesnt get it perfect EVERY time- that doesnt mean i write them off! businesses cant possibly con... read more
Very dissatisfied My husband and I bought a coffee pot in a Cuisinart box which appeared to never have been opened. The box was completely taped shut, no damage to the box. The Stuff, etc., label on the box stated "Cuisinart 12 cup coffee pot" so we purchased it for $20. Having purchased a Krups espresso maker at the store previously, we had no reason to believe the item in the box was not the item shown. DISHONEST! DISHONEST! DISHONEST! DISHONEST! DISHONEST! DISHONEST! Staff at Stuff had hidden my items in the "back", waiting for the price to go down so they could buy it at the lowest price. TWICE I went searching on the floor for furniture and clothes I brought in, and with rude staff help, came back to me admitting that employees had put items in the back as they were interested. Our store was honest. Melissa T. You were very correct on what you said. I used to work for a consignment store, and you could not believe how people would come in and drill us on our policies were. WE were not allowed to hold anything from a cosigner, ever. We didn't lower the price so our friends could buy it, not at all. We signed an agreement with the owner as part as the application to honor the cosigner, and keep integrity at an all time high. I love the Stuff store My daughter took me to Stuff several times and I have had great service and success in finding what I needed or wanted. Although somethings were out of my price range, everything was neat and clean and I found the staff helpful.When we go into a store--be it Stuff or Kmart or where ever--we need to remember that we get what we take in or what we choose to take out.
