Big Business with the Family Touch I have been using Strand Bros. for years to service my heating and cooling systems. Their advertising plays up the Strand family, but it's not just a marketing gimmick. Don't be surprised if the matriarch personally answers the phone (even though she is in her 80s). One of her "boys" came out today to perform an energy audit and pricing for a new system. Overpriced and misleading Expect to pay over $200 to have your HVAC drain line flushed, yes, over $200 and it requires no parts and takes about 10 minutes. Oh yeah, they may also try to tell you that is not the real problem, that you really should replace the whole pan, it is pretty old after all, give me a break! If you have more than one problem, say a leaky faucet and an HVAC problem, that is two diagnostics at $70 a pop! Plus the repair! Move on to the next company, these guys are just too rich for my blood.
Good a/c service This company nursed my old a/c unit along for a couple of years until it finally grew too worn to repair any more. I replaced my unit this year and am very glad I did since my electric bill was cut in half. They were able to get me a no payment/no interest deal for 1 year. All the technicians and repairmen I have dealt with have been very pleasant and knowledgeable.
