Horrible I will NEVER,EVER go back to this shop! When things get a little bumpy with them, they are on guard, had no problem shouting at me in front of my 6year old. Don't be fooled by nice looking shop and the smile. If you are not a profession, you wouldn't get a customer service. If you say you are unsatisfied with their service, they would say they don't want you as their customer. All I wanted from them was an apology. My experience with them was extremely disturbing.
great shop! Wow, couldn't be further from my experiences with them. Stevens have sold a number of instruments for me over the years and have always been professional. Never had a problem getting paid. They even took a much smaller than usual consignment fee on a violin of mine in order to accomplish a tight deal. Sorry that happened to you.
Nice shop! Just rented a viola for my son from this nice shop. Friendly service and much better quality than the other music stores I visited. They also gave me a couple of teacher's phone numbers. Overall, very helpful!
Rental prices expensive and be on guard When I went to Stevens violin shop I did not know what to expect when renting a viola or cello. Trusting that their rates would be reasonable I rented a viola and a cello for 3 months. Vince charged me $ 135.00 for 3 months for the viola. The cello was rented for $ 95.00 a MONTH for 3 months. Thinking at the time that was a lot to charge to rent a cello. The next day I checked out rental prices elsewhere and found much more reasonable rates. I returned the cello to Stevens. For the 2 d... read more
Stevens Violin Shop I brought in a old violin that belonged to my grandfather for an appraisal, and was told this would cost $65. They ended up not charging me as the violin was not very good. After they explained to me that my violin needed a lot of expensive repairs, I asked if I could look at some new violins. I tried some instruments and found that I liked most of the ones I tried. They suggested I pick the two I liked the best, and let me take them to show my teacher. She of course liked the more expensive one, which wa... read more
Be Careful, Very Careful!!!! After almost 15 years as a customer of the store, I asked Stevens Violin Shop to sell my bow for me ($1000 approximate price). I was informed in September 2008 that the bowwas out on trial and I would be paid by the end of the month. As of yet (December 22, 2008) I have not received any money. Mr. Knudsen, the ownmer, refuses to answer phone calls or e-mails. He refused to accept a registered return recepit letter. He has stolen my money and I have no recourse. Small claims court yields nothing a... read more
Never take a violin here I've had good experiences with them in the past, but I took a violin there to get repaired, they said it needed other things done but thought it was a very expensive old French violin and sent it to France to be appraised. After months of being in the shop, it became apparent to me that they weren't doing the original work that I told them to do. I told them I wanted my violin back to take it elsewhere and I had the WORST experience dealing with the staff there (Vince I think him name was, or somethi... read more
