I was a new patient to Orthro Va, I was suffering from a Sciatica injury on my left side & left leg w/ foot drop. I was having difficulty walking, severe pain & had a few falls due to the foot drop. The staff were very friendly! Dr. Steven S. Hughes, MD, FAAOS was willing to see me on short notice! He was frank and honest about a spinal fusion procedure! We discussed the potential outcome of surgery and realistic expectations!
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Hughes and his team. He patiently explained the causes of my back pain and answered all of my questions. He presented surgery as an option but did not push it. I followed up with Jennifer because I had more questions and she was also kind and patient. Dr Hughes and his PA Jennifer Leeman are wonderful. I was diagnosed with severe cervical stenosis and needed urgent surgery. Dr Hughes made time to see me in his office right away after seeing my MRI and I had a total disc replacement a couple days later. Dr. Hughes really took the time to explain everything in a calm, reassuring manner and made sure I was okay. He walked me through all of my options and addressed my concerns with patience and care.
