Dr. Heil replaced my hip, performing the surgery at Colorado Canyons Hospital in Fruita. The whole experience was terrific: planning, surgical procedure, hospital stay, therapy and follow-up. (He encouraged me to walk/use the joint, sharing that most people have problems with joint replacement because they do NOT use the joint, or do their therapy properly.) As my hip joint failure was related to a congenital flaw, I am looking to replace the OTHER in a year or so- hope to return to him again!

My 15 year old son broke his shoulder and had to have emergency surgery. Dr Heil was able to get it set with 3 pins without even cutting into his shoulder. They took the pins out in 3 weeks and he's had a smooth recovery. It's been just a little over 6 months and he is doing great! Even pitching with that arm.

I suppose Dr. Heil is a decent cutter, as my scar from a total knee replacement is minimal. After care left a great deal to be desired. My concerns and those of his head physical therapist were summarily dismissed. It took 16 weeks to get a 12 week appointment due to his delays. When I finally saw him he never even looked at my knee, how I stood or walked. Dr. Heil simply told me to "forget about my knee and get on with my life". Very poor patient care, if you ask me.
