I worked with Abigail (representing Step by Step) as my case manager briefly. The experience was not appropriate or effective. She presents with confidence, but her conduct demonstrated limited professional judgment, poor boundary awareness, and an inability to accept feedback. I was at Step by Step for two years. While some staff at Step by Step were supportive and encouraging, many are young and inexperienced, which affects how they handle complex issues including PTSD. Clients often lack social skills, struggle with boundaries, and make group settings uncomfortable and sometimes unproductive. For example, during Open Arts Night, one long-time member pushed in his earplugs while I was performing. Clients also show poor manners during meals.
