Awesome Local Family Restaurant! We enjoyed Country Fried Steak, Fried Chicken, Crab Cakes, Bourbon Grilled Chicken, Fried Green Tomatoes, Onion Rings, Mac n Cheese, Fried Okra, French Fries, Black Eyed Peas, Creamed Corn, Biscuits, and Cornbread. Finished out dinner with Ice Cream and a Chocolate Shake!!!

I enjoy the atmosphere the way the waitress were friendly the food was great and just an old country restaurant everyone should enjoy family friends or just someone being alone but not for long the waitress always speaks to you and make sure you are not alone on any day I'll give them a five stars like I've always have done 20 years ago I moved away and today on Father's Day traveling through the back roads on Hwy 17 I wonder if the restaurant was still there and it was so here I am still see the same friendly faces I saw ba... read more

I brag about this place a lot. Out of all the probably 20 different things I've tried, I've never been disappointed. This is food from the heart. It's southern comfort food. It fills you well. Go in with an open heart and mind, and in 15-20 minutes, you'll have a giant plate of delicious noms in front of you. The prices are great and service is lovely. We drove an hour and a half one way to eat here. Waitress was very friendly and very efficient. I left her a big tip, but the food was mediocre. Squash casserole was made with overgrown squash had a bitter taste, hush puppies were over fried on the outside and raw in the middle. Oysters were extremely small and over cooked as were the fried shrimp. Mashed potatoes were supposed to be homemade but they were 1/2 real potatoes and 1/2 Instant potatoes. Will not be making the trip again.
Steffens is always a good choice. Our group rides up from Jacksonville to Kingsland several times a year to have breakfast there. Good eats and service!
Outstanding smothered chops, collards, mac & cheese, and banana pudding! A real treat for this Yankee visitor.
