I had a deeply upsetting experience at this Starbucks drive-through. I handed the employee cash to pay for my order, and he referred to me as a “gangster.” Then, after he gave me the wrong change and I politely told him I had given him a $20 bill, he put his hands up and said, “Don’t shoot.” As a Black woman, I found these comments and gestures to be offensive, degrading, and rooted in harmful racial stereotypes. I told them to make iced americano, they asked me if it’s hot or iced to make sure. I confirmed that ordered iced one, then they gave me hot americano and I just reminded them I ordered an iced americano, they took the coffee and added ice in it (melted until I get it back) and when I got my coffee it was still that hot americano with melted ice in it. Couldn’t get iced one.
