Just crushed my Intermediate First Aid Certification and honestly had a blast doing it! Huge shoutout to the amazing Saphyre M —seriously, best instructor ever! She made the whole thing fun, easy to understand, and way less intimidating than I expected. Who knew learning CPR and bandaging could be this entertaining? 🩹🫀
I have taken a lot of first aid courses through other establishments in town and I have to say this was the most chaotic, unorganized class I have ever taken in my life. I genuinely felt bad for the people doing it for the first time as again, the delivery was confusing, the instructor did not seem confident in her material delivery and her student teacher seemed to do a better job with keeping us on track and being aware of what was actually going on in drills. We just did our WorksafeBC First Aid training here. The course was well laid out, and the instructor was very knowledgeable and kept things interesting.
There was a long delay in receiving a certificate. When questioned why, the explanation was that a pocket mask wasn't purchased directly from St. Johns. The option to bring your own mask was allowed and no mention was made during the course or after that this would impact receiving the ticket. Very frustrating to take and pass an expensive course and still have to follow up just to receive certification due to inaccurate bookkeeping on St. Johns part.
