Good selection on the menu, the ambiance in the front bar is very cozy. The other rooms in the restaurant feel like a cafeteria - no privacy, bland chairs and tables. Service can vary greatly from excellent to clumsy and slow. Oh, and if sitting in the back bar, keep your coat on, as patrons love to open the door wide coming by in, bringing cold air with them. Might consider a vestibule to alleviate this problem.
We stumbled across the Spring House Tavern while out exploring the Virginia countryside. Stopped in for lunch and found very reasonable prices and comfortable atmosphere. My wife and niece ordered the reuben and pulled pork bbq. They both very much enjoyed their meals. I had the angry birds chicken wrap and it is something I'd recommend. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs and the classic rock music playing was very cool. I'd say if you're in Woodstock, Virginia stop on in and try it out.
They were very busy, the cook messed up my wifes steak, other than being slow due to volume, i have no more complaints, staff made the check right.
Excellent ambience, food & spirits! Will return soon!
Mediocre at best. They weren't busy but waited for a long time. When what was probably very good stew got to the table, it was cold. Beer selection was decent enough.
