Specialties New American Gastropub Fare, 40 Craft Beers On Tap History Established in 2007. Spitzer's Corner preserves a bit of the history of the exciting neighborhood where we are located...the name Spitzer's Corner comes from Spitzer's Dress Shop, which occupied the space for over 50 years. Today, the dress shop has been transformed into a unique and popular gastropub in Manhattan's cool and hip Lower East Side.

Good bar but poorly run...and victim of its own success – Spitzer's is a very bar in a fun area. Great selection of beers on tap and bottle, nice minimalist decor. Too bad I will avoid it on weekend nights for the following reasons: 1. It is overrun by the young upper east side crowd..lots of baseball hats and cute young preppy girls (wait a minute, that's a good thng...). And they'll ALL trying to get a drink! It's like they all got on a bus at Dorian's and it dropped them off on Rivington. What a nightmare. 2. Because of s... read more
Excellent Beer Selection, Great Atmosphere, Good Food, Hit-or-Miss Service Though... – I've been to Spitzer's Corner twice and I think I agree with some of the previous reviews that the service can be hit-or-miss. My first time there 2 months ago was an excellent experience. We drank great beer, ate delicious food, and enjoyed the pleasant ambience that this restaurant/bar provides. The service was okay that time, given the bustling late-night crowd. But last night was a different experience: our waiter was unattentive, boun... read more
With several dozen draft beers plus a menu of gourmet treats, this Lower East Side gastropub is good for what ales you. – Perhaps you've never heard of Rogue Dead Guy Ale, but the proprietors of Spitzer's Corner have, and with an astounding selection of draft beers--plus additional choices by the bottle--even the biggest brewsky snobs will be pleasantly surprised. (And for non beer-drinkers, there's also a full bar.) French windows give way to a dark wood interior, starkly decorated with hanging industrial-style lamps and ve... read more
Great atmosphere – The atmosphere was great! Everyone was laid-back and friendly. I had the mac & cheese, sliders, and soft shell crab. All were delicious. The beer menu is great too! Oh and my waiter was gorgeous(dark hair, tattoo on right arm, & super nice). :)
My fave gastropub in the LES – I'm one of those femmes in the rough who prefer beer over wine or syrupy cocktails, so naturally Spitzer's wins points with me for its damn good beer selection. They've got everything from Unibroue to Leffe to Maredsous to Rogue -- sigh. Heaven. They win even more points with me for that new menu by Wayne Nish. Super simple but super smart food -- great for pairing with microbrews. We tried the pork belly sandwich (great), the roasted chicken (fantastic), and the mac n cheese (super rich with b... read more
Strange attidude to service! – Firstly, i live very local to this establishment and have given it several chances, each time being more of a joke than the last. Last nights effort was the final straw. I had a friend from overseas over so decided to keep it local, when we first walked in there was only 1 bar tender working, thus explaining the dirty bar top. (When i say dirty, i mean remnants of food, not drink) Having waited a good 5 minutes to get served, we were finally served along with another gentleman who was also havi... read more
Great beer selection! – Let me start by saying the beer list is fantastic. This is the reason to go to this place. It has long bench seating, so you?re sitting very close to your neighbors, but it didn?t feel uncomfortable. As for food, the menu is rather limited. I can only comment on the hangar steak which was actually very good (much to my surprise). I saw a number of people order burgers that looked good as well. They also make fresh donuts for dessert which were great. As to the negative reviews here regarding seating, ... read more
Surprisingly good food – I went to Spitzer's Corner with a friend because we heard the beer selection was really good, and planned to just have a couple beers there before going to dinner elsewhere. After a couple of Belgian beers each, we started to get comfy there and just decided to stay for dinner. We ordered the burger and the grilled cheese, and were pleasantly surprised. To be honest, our expectations were low because this place has the feel of a beer pub. But the burger was really good and the fries were thick and cr... read more
Best Advice? Avoid: bridge and tunnel HEL horrible for neighborhood – I cannot comment on any aspect of the food or drinks, since service was unavailable. Barely greeted at door, then met with a baffled look as though we had walked into some stranger's apartment. Was seated, in a sea of staten island etc. trash, not handed a menu for a couple of minutes, and spent ten minutes watching wait-staff walk around serving others without a hint of acknowledgment. So we left. And nobody seemed to notice. Not a good way to support a r... read more
