I finally found a GREAT eye doctor – In my 42 years of life I have always had problems with my vision. Not anymore. Dr. Mapes has achieved what no other eye doctor has ever been able to do for me. . .I can see perfectly! Seriously, I've always been told my eyes were not correctable to 20/20. AWESOME eye doctor and I LOVE my new glasses !!!!! – I've been a patient of Dr Mapes for 8 years. I can not EVER imagine going to any other doctor in Houston. He is an incredible guy, very knowledgeagle, and has an awesome personality. most expensive useless service in my life – got prescription and glasses there. glasses were at least twice going rate anywhere else and DID NOT WORK. I brought them back. They acted like it must be my hang up, getting used to bifocals. I'd already had experienced with bifocals, and had already tried to get used to their glasses for several weeks. Best optometrist in Houston – Evan Mapes is an outstanding optometrist. Effective, knowledgeable, and personable. On top of that, his boutique is warm and comfortable. His staff is attentive and capable, and he has a wide selection of stylish frames -- from funky to conservative. I am thrilled to have found him, and recommend him highly.
Great Service, Designer Frames, High Cost, Difficult to find frames that look nice – I recently purchased a pair of eyeglasses from Spectacles on Montrose. I liked the service and designer frames. Unfortunately they have limited selection of frames in my size (I'm tall), so the glasses I wound up going with don't look very good on me ... they look like safety glasses, and they were quite expensive at $725. They are very knowledgable, professional and the service is a royal carpet treatment. Most Unique Glasses and a GREAT Doctor! – I read all the reviews before I booked my appointment. . . Spectacles is even better than I expected. Starting off. . .Dr Mapes gave me the best eye exam I have ever had. He's very relaxed, not rushed, and I actually enjoyed the exam. I ususally worry that I screwed up somehow. . .not this time. Absolutely WONDERFUL! – I have an eye condition called kerataconus that reqires me to wear hard contact lenses. These lenses have to be refitted every few years as my vision changes (i.e., gets worse). During a visit to a contact lense fitter in the Texas Medical Center, I was told that while my left eye could be refitted with a lense that would correct for the loss of vision my right eye was too far gone and changing my contact prescription in that eye would make no difference.
