From emergency visits to scheduled check ups for our pets and the random bunnies that we catch in our neighborhood, we always know we can trust Southwest Animal Hospital. We appreciate you, and so do our babies!

I’ve brought several rats to Dr. Burgess and Dr. Surrency over the years, and I could not have asked for more loving and expert care of my little ones. I’ve since moved away from Portland, but I would give anything to have access to this clinic again. There is absolutely no better place to take your small and exotic friends in Portland metro, hands down.
RecommendedWonderful staff! Dr. Burgess is so knowledgeable, and will share with you too, very interesting for the curious who enjoy learning! His advice was spot-on for my guinea pig sow with a liver enzyme disorder. She's been healthy for 16 months, no bloating etc. He is also the doctor who spayed her, now she has a boyfriend named Ben and no worries of baby piggies! They always take wonderful care of my Hedgie Winston! He is 5 now and I always feel safe leaving him in their care. They have educated me so much on how to give him the best care, Plus they make me feel like a special Hedgie mom � I will always bring my furry/prickly kids here and recommend them to everyone.

The team here is so great and clearly cares deeply about providing excellent care to small and exotic pets. They brought my chinchilla back from GI stasis and a torn knee ligament. One year later and he continues to have a clean bill of health! We’ve seen both Dr. Burgess and Dr. Desonier over the years and they are both very knowledgeable and skilled practitioners. Your pet will be in good hands here!
Dr. Burgess is the best! So knowledgeable, like a human google for rodents! Staff were very friendly as well. Plenty of parking, clean clinic, enjoyed the cacti out front too.
I love this place. Best herpetologist in Oregon. �
