Called this office on behalf of one of my patients a proud Veteran who served over 20 years in the United States Air Force. I was simply asking for a referral so he could receive help with showers two days a week. (We already cover the other days ourselves.) I usually love the care I receive from the VA clinics I’ve been to but this particular location is a clear example of why many veterans are frustrated with VA healthcare. The primary care facility seems to prioritize velocity of getting patients in and out even if it means cutting patients short of other assistance they may need. They have no problem raising their in helplessness and saying that they cannot help in certain circumstances.
