History Established in 1988. The South Platte Sentinel was started by Ken and Delinda (Korrey) McDowell in 1988 as a weekly community news paper. In August 2016 the paper was sold to Media News Group, were it is continuing to bring weekly community news to Logan County, Colorado.

Good job on keeping it classy on the letters to the editor. Just goes to show how left leaning this paper is! Did a great letter from a local with “I talked to a man today”. Followed up by a hate filled diatribe against President Trump from a Jake Pickering from Arcata CA. Not only is he not a local but this hate spewing letter has been run in MANY small town publications. The Sentinel is left leaning as shown by many of the writers. But this hate takes the cake. This paper sucks now. I just live on the south side of town, and rarely ever get a paper anymore. Maybe once a month in the mail. You apparently can't read it online either.
