I highly recommend Dr. Kent! I have been a patient of his off and on for almost ten years and haven't had one negative experience with him, or with any of the staff that work in his clinic. His bedside manner is BEYOND amazing. I have been to other doctors over the years for varying specialties and have found so many lacking in genuine empathy. There are some negative reviews for Dr. Coakley, below. Dr. Coakley has not worked at South Family Medical Center for more than three years, now. So, please feel comfortable and safe in getting your medical care at our facility. Michael Kent, MD Medical Director

Highly Recommended!! – For as long as I can remember, I have been afraid to go to the doctor’s. I’m the type of person who would rather wait it out than step foot in a doctor’s office. I recently had a horrible sore throat that I knew would require a doctor’s visit. My friend told me she goes to South Coast Family, and highly recommended I try it. Great Doctor! – Recently I cut my thumb while slicing bread, I wasn't sure but I thought I might need a few stitches. When I called the E.R. the wait was over 3 hours, they advised me to call an urgent care. I called South Coast Family and was told I could walk right in. I am so glad I did! the staff was so kind, and Dr. Kent was great! He explained that I needed 3-4 sutures and before I knew it, my thumb was repaired and a very kind assistant was bandaging my thumb. Dr. Kent is the Best! – My 5 year old daughter was running a very high fever. I called her pediatricians office and they could not get her in that day. My neighbor told me about South Coast Family. I called and was told that I didn't need an appointment and I could just walk in. What a great experience!! The Staff was warm and friendly and my daughter Loved Dr. Kent! He was wonderful with her. I am so glad my neighbor referred me to Dr. Kent. He will now be our Family Doctor.

GREAT MEDICAL CARE – I was seen by Dr. Michael Kent for a broken finger. He was very professional, kind and caring. I was able to have the x-rays taken in the office and had the results right away. He splinted my finger (which was fractured). Dr. Kent spent time explaining everything to me and how much time it would take for the fracture to heal. I usually don't write reviews but i was so empressed with the level of care i received and how professional Dr. Kent and the staff were.

Misdiagnosis – I was treated at this office for a thumb injury. I received X-rays & the tech was very nice. I saw the doctor & was told my thumb had many interesting prior injuries but that everything was currently okay. I was given a brace for my thumb which cost over $180 & told to ice my injury. I thought the injury was more severe & it didn't heal or improve over the next few weeks. I sought a second opinion at which time I was informed that not only was my thumb dislocated but I had a compression fracture & severe bone ... read more
