The food was spectacular! The chicken(seitan) and waffle was on point. Vegan Mac n cheese, mind blowing! I'll be visiting whenever I visit Oakland.

I'm no vegan but i love soul food and this was very good and healthy. They do miracles with okra and also make it old fashioned fried. Fantastic collards. I love Bay Area restaurants but I'd come back here next time Im down from Fort Bragg to try more authentic but vegan Soule food!
When we entered the restaurant it smelled like stale dishwater which is not an enticing aroma when mixed with food. Because I am not a fan of foods masquerading as other foods (fake meat, fake dairy etc.) I ordered three things that I thought would be impossible to ruin: garlic french fries, seasoned french fries, and mashed potatoes. The french fries were both burnt AND soggy which is incredibly difficult to do, and the mashed potatoes were literally the runniest I have ever seen. can I just say... I am jealous of the city of Oakland? I am from Toledo Ohio and we have nothing that comes close to this. This food is Simply Amazing. the staff is super friendly. The menu is huge and overwhelming in a good way. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
I visited Souley Vegan today and was excited to try something new. The staff as well as the owner were SOOO accommodating to my health needs and concerns! I would strongly recommend this place to any and everyone!
